Christian Initiation for Adults & Older Children

Celebrations of the sacraments are not isolated events.
They take place within a process of growth in faith, from birth to adolescence.

Christian Initiation of Older Children, educates than initiates older children to become a Catholic and take up their sacramental journey.
From “Christian Initiation for Children” Sacramental Policy of the Archdiocese of Brisbane

The RCIA is “a journey of faith which passes through a number of different phases and focuses on conversion of heart and mind to Christ. It is a gradual journey tailored to the needs of individuals” (Liturgy Brisbane).

Similar to the RCIA, Christian Initiation of Older Children is a journey of faith for children 8 years who:
  • have reached the age of eight and are not baptised, or;
  • are seeking to become Catholic.

Once an unbaptised adult or child are ready, they are initiated into the Catholic Faith through Baptism. An adult will also be Confirmed and receive First Communion. Children normally continue their initiation journey through the Sacramental Program with their peers.

If you are interested in finding out more about the RCIA or Christian Initiation of Older Children, please contact Our Lady of Graces Parish Office.
